Not only is it embedded at the heart of AI and Technology but it is also a fundamental enabler for manufacturing, healthcare and government. This talk will cover the way that mathematics underpins decision making in government and industry, how we turn mathematics into useful insight for decision makers and where the current research and educational gaps lie. It will draw on specific examples such as meteorology, COVID 19 and Carbon Capture Technology to demonstrate how the same mathematics can be applicable to a huge range of potential applications as well as outlining where there are still major research challenges that could be addressed by the mathematical research ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.\n About the speaker Ronni is a senior statistician and data scientist at Paebbl working on carbon capture in the building industry, following a distinguished career in the civil service, closely interacting with academia. She is internationally recognized for her work on Chemical, Biological and Radiological knowledge management, and has served on national level committees for government and funding agencies.
