He has also worked at the University of Perugia, Italy and the Centre for Transgene Technology and Genetherapy of the University of Leuven, Belgium.\n In 2016, he was chosen as the “Netherlander of the year”, by a leading weekly magazine, exceptionally combining organisational leadership and management with hands-on, all-round medical practice as an Internal Medicine Consultant and as a research academic. He has published over 700 articles in peer reviewed journals.
