Join health leaders and experts to discuss key issues centred around Global Health Systems.

In an era of polycrises, the COVID-19 pandemic has drawn attention to how chronic underinvestment in our health systems compromises human health and leads to serious economic and social setbacks. The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region faces a complex array of health system challenges, driven by socioeconomic disparities, political instability, and the dual burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Furthermore, deeply influenced by the geographies of power and recognizing the disparities in decision-making, countries in these regions are being tasked to restructure, transform, and upgrade health systems and their health workforce (HWF).

The Health Systems Research Centre has conducted a scoping review on the health systems and population challenges within the MENA region. The roundtable will explore the results of the scoping review and aims to give participants an overview on the different root causes and potential solutions. The session will allow key stakeholders involved in enhancing diversity in health leadership and policymaking with a commitment to training, recruiting, and retaining professionals of HWF to share their experiences.
