Come to Campus Community Festival and 125 Anniversary Concert - FAQs

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the Come to Campus Community Festival and 125 Anniversary Concert on 21 June 2025. Answers to frequently asked questions about the events can be found below.

Please note, the 125 Anniversary Concert has sold out. We don’t anticipate that further tickets will become available.

The events

When and where are the events taking place?

The Come to Campus Community Festival will take place between 10:00 and 17:00 at the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s main campus in Edgbaston. Head to the base of our famous Clock Tower, , for all activities.

The 125 Anniversary Concert will also take place on our main campus in Edgbaston. The concert stage will be located between the Main Library and the Muirhead Tower. The event starts at 18:45. We suggest you arrive from 17:00 onwards, and the concert will finish at 22:10.

Do I need to buy a ticket or book in advance?

Come to Campus Community Festival: no tickets or bookings are required for our campus activities, simply turn up and enjoy the celebrations! The Winterbourne House and Garden is open as usual; see the following link for . 

125 Anniversary Concert: only those with tickets can attend this event – and it has now sold out. Opportunities to book tickets for the 125 Anniversary Concert were shared with our University ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø earlier this year.

What activities are on offer at the Come to Campus Community Festival?

The Come to Campus Community Festival includes a fantastic mix of activities including:

  • Inspiring talks, including a special session with Professor Alice Roberts
  • Campus trails, tours and opportunities to visit attractions like the Lapworth Museum of Geology and
  • Sports activities run by ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Sport, Birmingham City Football Club and Birmingham Panthers Netball Club
  • An Arts and Crafts Zone run in partnership with the
  • Live music, games and face painting.

There is no need to book individual activities. Simply turn up and enjoy the celebrations!

Who will be performing at the 125 Anniversary Concert?

Experience the thrill of live music with a special Brummie twist: from the music of ELO to Elgar, pop to rock, classical to folk and everything in between, we celebrate the music of Birmingham and its people. This ticketed event, which has now sold out, features the University Philharmonic Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra and a host of guest singers, bands and entertainment.

Who can attend the events?

Everyone is welcome to attend the Come to Campus Community Festival: students, staff, alumni, local residents, and visitors from further afield. No tickets or bookings are required. The festival is completely free and open to everyone, and there will be activities for all ages and interests.

The 125 Anniversary Concert has now sold out. Opportunities to book tickets for the 125 Anniversary Concert were shared with our university ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø earlier this year.

I’m attending both events – can I stay for the whole day?

Yes, if you have a ticket for the concert, you are very welcome to stay with us for the whole day. Activities associated with the Come to Campus Community Festival will end at 17:00. Thereafter, you can enjoy our food and drink offer, and pre-concert entertainment will begin at around 17:15.

Travelling to campus

How do I get to the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø?

Parking on campus will be extremely limited and so we strongly recommend that you use public transport, if you can. The University has its own railway station and is well served by local buses.

If you’re , University station is a ten-minute walk from the centre of campus. 

If you’re , routes 61, 63, 41, 48, 76, X21, X22, 19, 20, 20A serve campus, and link the University to the city centre, local train stations and neighbourhoods. The circular 11A and 11C routes also run nearby. 

I’m cycling to campus. Where can I park my bike?

Bike racks are available throughout campus. The green spaces in the centre of campus will be busy, so please don’t bring bikes into these areas.

Local independent bike shop will be open between 11:00 and 17:00 to offer free bike servicing advice and support. You can find Gear Up behind . (Services are subject to availability and offered on a first come first served basis.)

I’m travelling by taxi. Is there a drop-off location?

We suggest using East Gate, North Gate, and as taxi drop-off/collection areas. The ‘turning circle’/drop-off point at North Gate will not be accessible to vehicles. 

Can I travel by car? Where can I park?

Parking on campus will be extremely limited and so we strongly recommend that you use public transport, if you can. To limit the number of vehicles on campus, many cark parks will be closed – but the following locations will remain open throughout the events:

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Staff who wish to park on Campus will need to bring their University ID card to swipe in and out of the barriers.  

Please note that the South Gate entrance will be closed to vehicles all day on the 21 June.

Is accessible parking available?

Yes, Blue Badge holders can park in the car park adjacent to the Teaching and Learning Building, accessible via Pritchatts Road (what3words location: ///towns.cable.shares).

Facilities on campus

Will there be people on campus who can help me?

Yes, a team of volunteers will be supporting visitors throughout the day. They can help direct you to events and facilities and answer any questions you may have. The team will be easy to spot as they will be wearing hi-vis jackets. You can also speak to colleagues manning the ‘Ask me’ booths located around campus.

Are the events accessible to people with disabilities?

Both events will be accessible and details of our facilities can be found on our accessibility webpages. There will be accessible toilets and changing facilities available, and most venues and outdoor spaces are wheelchair friendly.

Will food and drink be available?

Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day and evening, including hot and cold food, drinks, and a fully stocked bar.

Food traders will serve a range of options including pizzas, burgers, hot dogs, southern fried chicken, gyros, noodles, and crepes and waffles. As a guide to prices, chicken gyros will cost £8.99, southern fried chicken with fries £7.99, a beef burger £5.50, and crepes begin at £4.

Our bars will serve soft drinks and alcohol throughout the day, including juices, coke and lemonade, a selection of wines and spirits, draughts and bottled beers (including 0%). Prices for juice start at £2.00 for a half pint of orange juice, and £2.40 for a glass of Diet Coke. A bottle of Peroni (including gluten free) is £3.90, our draughts start at £5.00 per pint, and our wines start at £5.50 for a medium glass.  

Several of our on-campus catering outlets will be open to serve a range of teas and coffees, sandwiches, cakes, and cold drinks. Meal deals – which include a sandwich, snack, and drink – start at £4.75.

All outlets accept card payment only.

We welcome you to bring your own food: a picnic area will be in the centre of campus.

You can fill your water bottle for free via free refill stations located on the green heart above Cuore (R34 on the Campus Map). 

No glass is permitted on campus. 

Can I bring my dog?

As we’re expecting campus to be very busy, only service dogs are permitted to attend the events.

Where will the toilets be located?

There will be two blocks of temporary toilets either side of the Green Heart, located outside the  (this block will include accessible toilets) and outside the .

Baby change facilities will be available. Location to be confirmed soon.

Will first aid be available?

Yes, a specialist team of first aiders will be available throughout the day. If you need assistance, please visit the , R30 on the campus map. Our team of volunteers can help you; they’ll be easy to spot as they will be wearing hi-vis jackets.

Do you have a prayer room?

Yes, a prayer room will be available at , R23 on the campus map. The Faith Room can be found on Floor 1. 

Do you have a designated quiet space?

Yes, a quiet space will be available on the ground floor of the , R30 on the campus map. 

Do you have a cloakroom for coats and bags?

No, please plan to keep all your belongings with you throughout the day.

Can I film and take photographs?

Please do! Tag us on social media – #UoB125 – and share the day!

Can I bring my own chair for the concert?

You are very welcome to bring your own chair. If you do, we will direct you to the tiered section of the viewing area. If you’d rather sit on a picnic blanket, you can use the flat area in front of the stage.

Will the events still go ahead if it rains?

Yes, both events will take place come rain or shine! Some of the activities for the Come to Campus Community Festival may be moved indoors, if required.

If persistent rain looks likely, please dress appropriately – consider bringing a waterproof jacket and wearing boots. If the forecast is more positive, and sunny weather is likely, consider bringing wide-brimmed hats, suncream and a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated.
