Professor Ingmar Schumacher is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in Economics at the Birmingham Business School, within the College of Social Sciences in the United Kingdom. He served as a Professor of Economics at IPAG Business School until 2023. His research primarily centres on environmental economics, with a particular focus on climate change, climate finance, migration, attitudes towards nature, social and moral norms, and behavioural nudging.

Professor Schumacher is also a co-founder of the Sustainable Future Policy Lab and an associate researcher at the Chair for Energy and Prosperity at École Polytechnique in Paris.

Biography

Professor Ingmar Schumacher holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Université de Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve, and an M.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics. Prior to his role at IPAG Business School, he worked as an economist at the Central Bank of Luxembourg and held a postdoctoral position at École Polytechnique in Paris.

His research has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the European Economic ReviewJournal of Environmental Economics and ManagementAmerican Journal of Agricultural EconomicsJournal of Economic Dynamics and Control, and Oxford Economic Papers. He currently serves as the Managing Editor of Environmental & Resource Economics.
