Dr Ghiassi is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering.

His main research interests include innovative and old construction materials including masonry, cementitious and non-cementitious composites and innovative repair materials. His research focuses on experimental testing and computational modelling of the mechanics, durability and resilience of structures and infrastructure made of those materials.

Novel processing, curing and manufacturing techniques
Deterioration and aging of construction materials
Safety assessment of historical (masonry or concrete) constructions
Novel strengthening and repair techniques
Non-destructive testing and evaluation
