Dr Paudyal is an Associate Professor in Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice. He is an active researcher and educator in pharmacy practice. As of January 2023, he has published over 100 peer reviewed publications and has consistently secured external research grants and awards. His research focuses on: identifying and addressing the causes and consequences of health inequality, pharmacy and public health, self-care and development and evaluation of innovative pharmacy services. Currently he is leading a UK NIHR Health Service Research and Delivery (HS&DR) funded multicentre randomised controlled trial evaluating integrated pharmacist and third sector worker support for persons experiencing homelessness (PEH). His research on homelessness and health has offered substantial evidence on the disparities in health and access to healthcare faced by PEH. Such research has informed the development of innovative service trials to address such disparities. He is a regular invited speaker in public health, academic and NHS forums.

He is the immediate past chair of the research Committee of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy and Associate Editor for International Journal of Clinical Pharmacy. He has supervised to completion several PhD students.

He is also the School foundations training recruitment lead for MPharm and sits on the steering committee Pharmacy Evaluation Group of Health Education England. In his role as the foundations training lead, he led the School of Pharmacy at UoB to 1st rank in national standing in the Oriel exams amongst 31 Schools of Pharmacy in the Great Britain.
