Julian Hoerner is an Associate Professor in Politics at POLSIS. His research explores how electoral behaviour and political institutions interact to shape representation, accountability, and the quality of democracy in Europe. He also has a strong interest in the impact of historical legacies on contemporary politics and in the politics of memory - topics he is currently exploring in an ESRC-funded research project, “The Holocaust and Cultures of Remembrance in Germany and Austria: The Citizens' Perspective.”

Julian has published on various aspects of the politics and policies of the European Union. Prior to joining POLSIS, he was a Senior Research Analyst focusing on the EU and Germany at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and a Fellow in European Politics and Public Policy at the London School of Economics.
